Public Verbal Comments

This communication item is included on the agenda of each regular board meeting to provide an opportunity for citizens to make suggestions or identify concerns about matters affecting the district, or to suggest an item be scheduled for a future agenda. The board may not have complete information available to answer questions and may refer specific concerns to the staff for appropriate attention. Discussion of personnel matters is inappropriate for open session. The board is committed to protecting the privacy interests of district personnel. Should any member of the public wish to discuss a personnel matter, it must first be brought to the attention of the assistant superintendent of personnel services. Speakers are cautioned that under California law, no person is immune from liability for making intentionally false or defamatory comments regarding any person simply because those comments are made at a public meeting.

Dr. Elder has requested that the board consider changing the 6:00 p.m. start time back to 7:00 p.m. so he can conduct an after school golf program for students at University Prep School.

ACT TO APPROVE RESOLUTION 10-25 ORDERING JUDICIAL FORECLOSURE OF DELINQUENT SPECIAL TAXES (Mrs. Gonzales)

Government Code authorizes districts with CFD's (Community Facility Districts) to file foreclosure actions on behalf of the debt holders. Approval of Resolution 10-25 is required to start the foreclosure proceedings.

The recommended action is for the board of trustees to approve Resolution 10-25 as presented.

ACT TO APPROVE TITLE I SCHOOLWIDE PROGRAM AT BRENTWOOD, CHALLENGER, IRWIN, LIBERTY, MOJAVE VISTA, PARK VIEW, PUESTA DEL SOL, SIXTH STREET PREP, AND VILLAGE SCHOOLS (Mrs. Mills)

We received a notice from CDE stating that they do not have a Schoolwide Plan Authorization for Title 1 on file for the following schools: Brentwood, Challenger, Irwin, Liberty, Mojave Vista, Park View, Puesta del Sol, Sixth Street Prep, and Village. To correct this oversight, we are submitting Notice of Authorizations to receive Title I funds utilizing a Schoolwide Program for those schools. All sites have met the federal criteria of exceeding 40% free/reduced lunch rate, have operated for several years under schoolwide criteria, and have included the necessary components in their School Site Plans.

The recommended action is to approve the Title I Schoolwide Program for Brentwood, Challenger, Irwin, Liberty, Mojave Vista, Park View, Puesta del Sol, Sixth Street Prep, and Village Schools.

ACT TO APPROVE CERTIFICATED EMPLOYEES TO PROVIDE SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES TO STUDENTS WITH AUTISM (Mrs. Swearingen)

We have been advised by the Credentials Office at the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools that we must take action to approve the assignment of special day class teachers to teach students with autism out of their credential authorization based on EC 44265.1 (AB 2302) and (AB 2160). This action is to ensure that these teachers have the teaching experience or course work in the area of autism.

The recommended action is to approve the certificated employees to teach out of credential authorization as presented.
